As Poppa L's and CM Dubb bring you that #Oldschoolflava they will be joined by 3 time Marital Arts Hall of Famer and world renowned trainer James Culpepper!
The martial arts career of James R. Culpepper,
started very early in Dayton, Ohio with directions from his mother...we
soon moved to Iowa where he joined the Waterloo Police Boxing Club. With
extensive training he won the golden gloves and became state champion,
but soon realized my passion was in martial arts. After boxing, he
started working out in martial arts (tang soon do) in 1964. Mr. Culpepper later
moved back to Dayton, Ohio and began wrestling for Colonel White High
School. He continued to keep martial arts as my number one passion of
exercise (tang soon do). After leaving high school, He joined the
United States Marines; Mr. Culpepper is a Vietnam veteran with an honorable
discharge. He continued to pursue martial arts training in Los Angeles,
California in 1977 where he began hop kido, instructed by Master Diane
Johnson.
Mr. Culpepper received my 1st degree black belt in hop kido. He branched
into thi chi jujitsu under the instruction of Master Fred Peterson
receiving his 1st degree black belt in thi chi jujitsu. He soon began
training under Grandmaster Steve Sanders, aka Sijo Steve Muhammad in
kenpo karate, in which he received 2nd through 8th degree black belt, and
acquired my nickname “Sweetpepper” because his fast fighting techniques
were always on point. Under Universal Systems I hold a 10th degree
black belt - Grandmaster
